There is no story or narrative and the captions are simple. It contains some longer words, to test vocabulary, and some questions, to spark conversation. There's even a clock, to see whether your loved one can still tell the time.
It can be looked at, page by page, just to get an idea for a chat going, or read through, enjoying each picture along the way.
The images and captions are designed to help towards starting a conversation by the accompanying reader. It can be incredibly hard to think of things to say, especially if your loved one is non-communicative. Use "Words Without Stories" as a springboard to chatting - about everything from steam trains, to squirrels! Just pick a page/image, and go from there.
Whilst the book has not been written with children in mind, it is suitable for all ages.
Contains references to Christmas and Easter.
Please note, the book itself doesn't reference dementia or memory issues.
"Words Without Stories" is in UK English.
It’s a slim paperback (35 pages in total).
